Purpose of the Role:

To appoint a qualified contractor to perform ongoing maintenance and repairs on Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) at Lethabo Power Station during both running (on-load) conditions and planned (opportunity) maintenance periods. The role ensures optimal performance of ESPs, compliance with environmental standards, and minimization of unplanned outages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute routine and corrective maintenance on ESP components:

  • Discharge & collecting electrodes

  • Ash hoppers, dampers, expansion joints, casings, doors

  • Support insulators, rapping systems

• Perform electrode cleaning, replacement, and inspection

• Execute casing repairs, water washing (with dust plant protection)

• Operate during running and shutdown conditions

• Supply necessary scaffolding, safety measures, and permits

• Comply with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards

• Maintain accurate records: inspection reports, test logs, QCPs

Qualifications and Technical Requirements:

• Minimum CIDB Grading: 6ME (7ME preferred for competitive advantage)

• Compliance with ISO 3834-2 Welding Standards

• ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance

• Must provide:

  • Qualified personnel (min. 3 years’ experience in ESP maintenance)

  • Detailed method statements, work plans, and risk assessments

  • Comprehensive Quality Management System (QCPs, ITPs, test procedures)

  • Use of certified welders, approved materials & traceability documents

  • Insurance, performance bonds, and guarantees as per Eskom’s specifications

Mandatory Requirements:

• Attend optional virtual briefing (20 August 2025, 10:00)

• Submit via Eskom E-Tendering portal before 03 October 2025, 10:00

• All bid documents must comply with Eskom procurement and safety policies

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong technical expertise in ESP maintenance

• Understanding of coal-fired power station environments

• SHEQ compliance and safety leadership

• Quality-focused and results-driven

• Proven experience in managing large-scale, long-term maintenance contracts
