Purpose of the Role
To respond to fire-related incidents, perform rescue services, deliver basic medical care, assist in fire prevention training, and maintain firefighting equipment — under supervision.
Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12
-
IFSAC-accredited
-
NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification
-
Minimum 2 years’ relevant firefighting experience
-
Valid driver’s license (unendorsed)
-
Medically and physically fit
-
Knowledge of firefighting systems and fire chemistry
-
Clear criminal record
-
Advantageous:
-
Advanced driving experience
-
Hazmat experience
-
First Aid Level 1–3
-
Basic Ambulance Attendant (BAA)
-
EMT Certification
-
Key Responsibilities
-
Respond to fire, rescue, Hazmat, and emergency incidents
-
Operate firefighting equipment, breathing apparatus, and vehicles
-
Perform emergency medical care and casualty extrication
-
Conduct fire prevention inspections and safety audits
-
Participate in physical training and simulation drills
-
Deliver fire safety training to employees
-
Perform equipment checks and maintenance
-
Maintain detailed incident logs
-
Support senior firefighters and officers during operations
Core Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication

Knowledge of Hazmat procedures

Teamwork and ability to take instructions

Familiarity with fire instructor protocols and security codes of conduct
