The Department of Public Works invites qualified service providers to submit quotations for architectural services related to the repairs and refurbishment of the Tweeling Magistrate Office.

Project Objective

Scope of Work
The appointed service provider will be responsible for:
Full Architectural Services
- All project stages (1–6):
- Inception
- Concept design
- Design development
- Documentation
- Procurement
- Construction & close-out
Project Coordination
- Act as principal agent
- Manage multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, structural, mechanical)
- Conduct site inspections and contract administration
Refurbishment Work Includes
- Roof repairs and leak fixing
- Replacement of broken tiles and window frames
- Structural crack repairs
- Electrical and mechanical upgrades
- Civil infrastructure improvements
- Air-conditioning systems
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Submit statutory approval documents
- Provide progress reports and final project close-out documentation
Technical Requirements
- Compliance with:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Environmental legislation
- Heritage Act
- Relevant SANS standards (e.g., SANS 10142)
- Implementation of green building principles
- Use of compatible project software
- Provision of professional indemnity insurance (minimum R1.5 million)
- Adherence to project timelines and milestones
- Security clearance for relevant personnel
Required Skills & Experience
- Registered Professional Architect (SACAP)
- Proven experience in refurbishment and public sector projects
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong track record of on-time and within-budget delivery
- Qualified team with relevant CVs and registrations
- Knowledge of EPWP labour-intensive methods
- Understanding of sustainability and local content requirements
