Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Teach undergraduate & postgraduate German modules
- Provide student guidance and assessments
- Contribute to curriculum development
Research & Academic Growth
- Conduct research and publish in accredited journals
- Present at conferences (local & international)
- Supervise postgraduate students (especially for Senior Lecturer)
Community Engagement
- Work with the Goethe-Institut programmes
- Support German teaching in schools and TVET colleges
- Participate in community and academic projects
Administration
- Participate in departmental and faculty tasks
- Assist with academic operations and exams
Minimum Requirements
Lecturer Level
- PhD (NQF 10) in German / German Studies / DaF
OR - Master’s (NQF 9) (must complete PhD within 5 years)
- Teaching ability (undergrad & postgrad)
- Conference presentations
- Research potential (publications or manuscripts)
Senior Lecturer Level
- PhD required
- Proven research publications
- Experience supervising Master’s students
- National recognition in the field
- NRF rating (or potential)
Recommended
- Teaching experience in Higher Education
