     Job Overview

     Key Responsibilities

     Teaching & Learning

    • Teach undergraduate & postgraduate German modules
    • Provide student guidance and assessments
    • Contribute to curriculum development

     Research & Academic Growth

    • Conduct research and publish in accredited journals
    • Present at conferences (local & international)
    • Supervise postgraduate students (especially for Senior Lecturer)

     Community Engagement

    • Work with the Goethe-Institut programmes
    • Support German teaching in schools and TVET colleges
    • Participate in community and academic projects

     Administration

    • Participate in departmental and faculty tasks
    • Assist with academic operations and exams

     Minimum Requirements

     Lecturer Level

    • PhD (NQF 10) in German / German Studies / DaF
      OR
    •  Master’s (NQF 9) (must complete PhD within 5 years)
    •  Teaching ability (undergrad & postgrad)
    •  Conference presentations
    •  Research potential (publications or manuscripts)

     Senior Lecturer Level

    • PhD required
    •  Proven research publications
    •  Experience supervising Master’s students
    •  National recognition in the field
    •  NRF rating (or potential)

     Recommended 

    • Teaching experience in Higher Education
    • Strong German language proficiency (spoken & written)
    • Academic networking / professional membership
