Tender Overview
The Department of Public Works seeks qualified service providers to test, repair, and maintain all security lighting systems at Flying Squad (10111) & CIG.
The objective is to ensure that all security lights are fully operational, compliant with standards, and properly maintained to enhance safety and security.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for:
- Testing & Repairing
- Inspect and test all security lighting circuits and components.
- Replace faulty or outdated components such as LED floodlights, bulbs, contactors, and circuit breakers.
- Installation & Upgrades
- Install control switches and associated wiring as needed.
- Ensure proper load balancing and compliance with SABS/Public Works standards.
- Materials & Documentation
- Supply necessary cables, materials, and certified equipment.
- Provide detailed test reports, certificates, and proof of purchases.
Technical Requirements
- Electrical repairs must be performed by qualified electricians.
- Use of certified components with appropriate IP ratings (e.g., IP65/66).
- Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Completion of all work within approved timelines and programs.
- Proper labeling, rewiring, and load balancing to meet standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in testing, repairing, and maintaining security lighting systems.
- Qualified electrical personnel with valid trade certificates and licenses.
- Ability to supply, install, and configure electrical components and wiring according to standards.
- Strong capability in documentation, including test reports and certification.
- Knowledge of SABS and Public Works electrical safety regulations.
- Project management skills to coordinate and complete work efficiently.
