Purpose
This fellowship is designed for recent PhD graduates who want to build an academic career in:
- Human Rights
- Disability Rights
- Social Transformation
It focuses on developing high-level research, publications, and academic experience under mentorship.
Key Focus Areas
Your research should connect disability rights with:
- Poverty and inequality
- Access to basic resources (housing, land, water, food)
- Education and healthcare
- Democracy and political rights
- Inclusion and transformation
Key Responsibilities
Research & Publications
- Conduct interdisciplinary research
- Publish at least 3 accredited outputs per year
- Present papers at seminars and conferences
Collaboration & Engagement
- Work with the Dean’s Office and disability rights unit
- Collaborate locally and internationally
- Participate in faculty research activities
Academic Development
- Assist with postgraduate supervision
- Participate in teaching
- Engage with research centres and postgraduate structures
Eligibility Criteria
You must:
- Have a PhD in Human Rights / Disability Rights (completed within last 5 years)
- Be available full-time (no other salaried job allowed)
- Be willing to relocate and reside in Bloemfontein (80% presence required)
Fellowship Value
- R240,000 per year (tax-free)
- R30,000 research fund (tax-free)
