     Project Objective

    To appoint a Professional Construction Health & Safety Agent (Pr. CHSA) to:

    • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993)
    • Monitor safety during refurbishment of a heritage site (Brandfort Justice Complex)
    • Manage risks and ensure a safe construction environment

     Scope of Work

     Project Setup & Planning

    • Establish project briefs and safety requirements
    • Assist in appointing and briefing professional teams

     Health & Safety Management

    • Develop safety policies and risk assessments
    • Create site-specific safety specifications
    • Ensure compliance with OHS legislation

     Construction Phase Monitoring

    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits
    • Monitor contractor safety performance
    • Investigate incidents and ensure corrective action

     Documentation & Compliance

    • Manage safety documentation and permits
    • Approve contractor safety plans
    • Maintain records and reporting systems

     Project Close-Out

    • Final safety audits
    • Handover of compliance documentation
    • Post-completion safety inspections

     Technical Requirements

    The service provider must:

    • Be a registered Health & Safety professional (Pr. CHSA or equivalent)
    • Have knowledge of construction safety legislation
    • Use proper safety management systems
    • Prepare risk assessments and safety plans
    • Be able to handle heritage site requirements
    • Maintain full legal compliance with OHS Act and regulations

     Key Skills & Experience

    • Proven experience in construction health & safety
    • Experience with heritage site projects (advantageous)
    • Strong knowledge of:
      • Risk assessments
      • Safety audits
      • Site inspections
    • Strong communication and reporting ability
    • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
    • Security clearance capability (if required)
