Job Purpose
To support teaching, learning, and research in Human Anatomy by:
- Assisting with practical sessions and dissections
- Preparing anatomical specimens
- Supporting academic staff with assessments and research
- Maintaining anatomy facilities and equipment
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in:
- Science or Medical Science
- With Human Anatomy as a main subject
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Higher Education Anatomy environment
- Experience in:
- Specimen preparation
- Dissection participation
- Mark processing and assessment support
- Good academic record
- Valid driver’s licence
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Practical Support
- Assist with anatomy tutorials, practicals, and dissections
- Prepare worksheets, assessments, and learning materials
- Support academic staff during sessions
Specimen Preparation
- Prepare and maintain anatomical specimens
- Ensure accuracy and quality of materials used in teaching
- Organise specimens for practical sessions and exams
Assessment Support
- Assist with marking and processing of student results
- Ensure accuracy and quality control of marks
- Support administration of tests and practical assessments
Facility Management
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of:
- Dissection halls
- Anatomy museum
- Teaching venues
- Ensure a safe and effective learning environment
Research Support
- Assist with anatomy-related research projects
- Support specimen preparation and data collection
- Conduct literature searches
- Contribute to departmental research programmes
Recommendations (Advantage)
- Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Human Anatomy
- Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Human Anatomy
- 3+ years relevant experience in an anatomy environment
