Project Objective
To appoint a panel of electrical contractors (3–6 companies) to:
- Deliver electrification projects
- Maintain and repair electrical infrastructure
- Provide services on an as-and-when basis for 3 years
Scope of Work
Electrification Projects
- Installation of:
- Streetlights
- Transformers
- Substations
- Overhead & underground systems
- Household connections
Maintenance & Repairs
- Repair of electrical infrastructure
- Fault finding and restoration
- Upkeep of municipal electrical systems
Supply & Logistics
- Supply and offloading of electrical materials
- Equipment handling and site setup
Project Execution
- Site establishment
- Project management
- Quality control and delivery
Technical Requirements
Contractors must:
- Comply with:
- Occupational Health & Safety Act
- SANS standards
- Municipal regulations
- Provide:
- Health & Safety plan
- Environmental management plan
- Use approved materials and certified equipment
- Ensure proper project execution and timelines
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Capacity
- CIDB 3 EP or higher registration
- Electrical contractor registration (Department of Labour)
- Experience in:
- Street lighting
- Substations
- Electrical distribution systems
Personnel Requirements
- Qualified electricians
- Project managers
- Supervisors
- Safety officers (e.g., SAMTRAC certified)
Operational Skills
- Project planning & scheduling

Ideal Contractor Profile
