Job Purpose
To support and coordinate student governance and institutional strategic projects by:
- Acting as a liaison between the ISRC and university structures
- Managing governance systems, policies, and compliance
- Supporting student leadership development and engagement
- Monitoring and implementing strategic projects within Student Affairs
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:
- Social Sciences
- Public Administration
- Governance or related field
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience
- At least 1 year in a Higher Education environment
- Valid driver’s licence
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Strategic Support
- Coordinate student governance projects
- Monitor progress, risks, and outcomes
- Develop project plans, timelines, and reports
- Review policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks
- Manage ISRC communication platforms (website & social media)
- Identify risks that could lead to student dissatisfaction or protests
Student Engagement & Communication
- Support and guide ISRC members
- Coordinate meetings with university leadership
- Facilitate communication between student structures and management
- Maintain records of decisions and commitments
- Support major events like the State of Institutional Address (SIA)
Project Monitoring & Support
- Review ISRC plans and ensure alignment with strategy
- Track implementation of student projects
- Monitor timelines and performance
- Compile reports and recommend improvements
Training & Development
- Design and coordinate training programmes for student leaders
- Support leadership development initiatives
- Organise workshops, inductions, and team-building sessions
- Maintain training records and evaluate effectiveness
Governance & Compliance
- Facilitate ISRC elections
- Ensure policies and governance structures are followed
- Identify gaps in governance policies
- Support establishment of student governance bodies
Meeting Coordination
- Organise meetings between ISRC and university structures
- Assist with agendas, presentations, and preparation
- Ensure participation in institutional committees
Report Writing
- Compile and review reports from ISRC structures
- Develop reporting templates
- Submit consolidated progress reports
Financial Administration
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning
- Process requisitions and quotations
- Monitor and report on ISRC budget usage
People Management
- Mentor and support ISRC members
- Monitor performance and accountability
- Handle disciplinary processes
- Promote teamwork and leadership development
