Job Purpose
The Assistant Director supports the university’s strategic goals by conducting research, analysing data, and contributing to planning and reporting processes. The role ensures that leadership decisions are informed by accurate data and insights.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research & Analysis
- Conduct institutional research to support planning and policy decisions
- Analyse trends in higher education (e.g., funding, policy changes, matric results)
- Convert research data into actionable business intelligence
2. Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Contribute to the university’s strategic plans (vision, mission, goals)
- Monitor and evaluate implementation of plans
- Assist in compiling key reports such as:
- Annual reports
- Performance plans
- Mid-year reports
3. Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage research project administration
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Liaise with relevant external bodies
4. Academic Contribution
- Contribute to research publications
- Participate in team and planning meetings
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) in Higher Education
- At least 4 years’ relevant experience
Recommended (Advantageous)
- PhD (NQF Level 10) in Higher Education Studies
- 5+ years’ experience in South African higher education
- Knowledge of university systems, policies, and procedures
